How To Create a Neutral Bedroom

A neutral bedroom has a lot of benefits. Before you pooh pooh the idea as boring just hear us out! Whilst we certainly love bold colours, if you want to create a sanctuary in your bedroom then creating a neutral bedroom is a safe bet. What’s more neutral colour schemes are classic and can even make your space look more expensive. A neutral bedroom gives you the opportunity to play with lots of different textures and you can even add pops of colour for seasonal interest. Whilst you can create a calming space with other colours, a neutral bedroom nearly always comes up trumps. Here’s our handy guide on how to create a neutral bedroom that won’t leave you feeling flat.

    Keep Your Walls Neutral

Before you start furnishing your bedroom and deciding on finishing touches you need to get the right neutral colour for your walls. We would recommend that you avoid brilliant white as this can feel quite stark and unwelcoming. However, there are a zillion shades of white and ivories that have either warm or cooler undertones. Indeed, it is advisable to test the paint on your walls at home before you get the paint brush out. Whilst colour charts are a great guide, it is surprising how different paint can look in your home. If shades of white or cream don’t hit the spot then you might want to try a shade a grey, a neutral that has become increasingly popular over the years.

    Consider Your Floor Coverings

It goes without saying that in a neutral bedroom then your floor coverings should be, well, neutral! Whether you want to go with carpet of wooden floors is entirely your choice. Again, as with paint, you should bring samples to test at home before you commit. If you do decide on wooden flooring, then be sure to add a textured rug to take the cold edge off.
