The Pros and Cons of Wooden Beds – The Pros

Wooden beds have graced the rooms of thousands of bedrooms across the country for years. Their popularity might wax and wane, but they never go out of fashion.  Here are the main pros if you’re considering investing in a wooden bed.

Pros and Cons of Wooden Beds
    1. Durable – One of the main benefits of wooden beds is how durable they are. Indeed, wood has been used to manufacturer all kinds of furniture for time in memorial.  You only have to look at antique furniture to see just how long a wooden piece of furniture can last.
    2. Sustainable – Because wood is such a durable material, a wooden bed is a highly sustainable option. Whilst a wooden bed will age, it will remain purposeful and good looking for decades. Even if you do tire of the design, a wooden bed can find a new life in another home and doesn’t have to end up in landfill.
    3. Natural Vibe – Wooden furniture is great at making us feel closer to nature and therefore can help to bring a sense of serenity to a space.
    4. Aesthetically Pleasing - Wood is a naturally beautiful material and is available in a number of colours to fit your specific interior. What’s more, wood can be painted in any colour although white are grey are the most common options.
    5. Easy To Maintain – Wooden beds are super easy to keep clean. Just an occasional wipe down is enough to keep these beds in tip top condition.
    6. Storage Options on Some Beds – A lot of people are desperate for extra storage and some of our wooden beds are built with available storage options. We have a handful of beds that are available with either drawers or Ottoman storage.

The Pros and Cons of Wooden Beds – The Cons

Unfortunately, there are some small drawbacks to wooden beds. They are as follows: -

Pros and Cons of Wooden Beds
    1. Can Be Bulky – As wooden beds are framed beds there are some beds that are bulky. For example, whilst they may take a 4ft6 double mattress the overall measurements can be much greater. To avoid disappointment, we recommend always checking the overall dimensions before making a purchase.
    2. Not as Comfortable to Sit Up In – If you’re the type of person that likes to sit up in bed to either devour a book or kick back and watch Netflix you might find a wooden bed uncomfortable. However, this can normally be counteracted by using some good quality pillows.
