So you need a new bed, but what about bed storage options? Do you go continental, Ottoman, end lift, side lift, drawers or nothing at all. What do all these bed storage options even mean? If it all sounds like a load of mumbo jumbo then you're not on your own. Understanding bed storage options can feel like you've got to learn a whole new language. So here is our 101 guide on everything you need to know about bed storage options.
If there is any bed that most people know about then it is probably the trusty divan bed with drawers. Quite simply this is a bed base which has handy drawers in it for storage. You can get 2 drawers, 4 drawers or even drawers that are placed at the end of the bed. Sounds simple doesn't it? Well in general it is, but when you start talking about continental drawers people start to get all in a tizzy!
What the heck are continental drawers? Are they designed by the French, Spanish or further afield? Unfortunately, it's really not that glamorous. Continental drawers are quite simply a drawer that is designed to be smaller. Indeed, the reason for this is so that you can place bedside tables by the side of the bed and you can still open the drawer. Take a look at the picture below for an example of the continental drawer.
Relatively speaking this is the new kid on the block. Whilst they have been around for many years, in recent times their popularity has soared. The reason for this is because Ottoman beds can store up to four times the amount as a standard four drawer divan. With our ever increasing need for storage solutions it is easy to see why these beds are flying of the shelves. Indeed, there are two types of Ottoman beds that you can get. You can get a side lift Ottoman bed or an end lift Ottoman bed. This quite simply means that you can either open the bed to access the storage from the side of the bed or from the end.
