    Pantone Colour of the Year

New year, New Bedroom – Decorate your bedroom using Pantone Colour of the year 2019

For over 20 years Pantone Colour of the year has had an effect on a multitude of industries from fashion to interior design. This year, Pantone colour of the year has been been announced as living coral. It is described as as 'an animating and life-affirming shade of orange with a golden undertone'.  If this sentence has you running for the magnolia paint then don't panic. To help you decorate we've put together our handy guide on how to use this colour in your bedroom.

Why is Living Coral Colour of the year?

According to Pantone's website ' Living Coral emits the desired, familiar and energizing aspects of colour found in nature'. It goes on to say that 'living coral is evocative of how coral reefs provide shelter to a diverse kaleidoscope of color'. In an increasingly turbulent world, were uncertainty is paramount, the need to create a welcoming space in our homes is of uttermost importance. Colour can massively influence the way we feel. Living coral is a colour that can help you feel connected and secure. So this makes it especially useful in the bedroom where you need to feel your safest.

Pantone Colour of the year is also a reflection of our growing awareness of the world we inhabit and the impact we have upon it. There has been a rise in awareness of the effect of plastics on our environment. This includes the impact that plastic has on our seas and the marine life that reside there.

How to use Pantone Colour of the year

Coral is a vibrant but earthy colour that is easier to use than you think. Therefore, it is the perfect choice for the bedroom as it can help to create a cosy cocoon. Our comprehensive range of grey fabric beds would look divine with a coral colour scheme. The Bern, pictured below, is just one of our many stunning grey fabric beds. Grey and coral is a particularly pleasing combination in modern interiors. If the idea of using Coral sends you so far out of your interior comfort zone that you'd rather stick to neutrals then try using it subtly. Introduce pops of colour with your soft furnishings and accessories. That way you won't feel like you've made an irreversible commitment.
