  • One Mattress, Can It Be Suitable For All?

    February 10, 2021

    One Mattress

    Does One Mattress Fit All?

There's a new concept that's sweeping through the bed world and it's the idea that one mattress can fit all. You can't scroll through social media or read a magazine without being faced with an advert for a mattress that is supposedly the only one that you'll ever need. With one click, from the comfort of your own home you can have a new mattress delivered to your door and bobs your uncle you'll be sleeping like a baby. Sounds too good to be true? Well it depends on who you are and what your needs are. In this article we will look at the pros and cons of one mattress being suitable for everyone.

    The Pros

    1. Buying a bed can often feel like trying to find a needle in a haystack. When you walk into a showroom sales people bombard you with information about springs, memory foam and firmness ratings. Before you know it your head is in a spin and you need to lie down just to recover from the information overload.

    2. Companies that sell one mattress often offer a 100 day money back guarantee.

    3. You can save your free time for fun time. As these companies are all online the process of buying a mattress is quick and hassle free.

    The Cons

    1. Buying a bed is a long term commitment and should always be researched. Whilst a hassle free process can seem appealing you may pay the price in the long run. The concept of one mattress being suitable for all seems a little bit simplistic as comfort is purely subjective.

    2. Whilst some sales people can seem pushy, many sales people have a wealth of knowledge that you can benefit from. The companies that sell one product have generally been set up by tech entrepreneurs who have no experience bed retailing.

    3. The current trends mean that these mattresses are almost exclusively manufactured from foam and memory foam. If you prefer a more traditional pocket sprung mattress with natural fillings then the chances are that this type of option isn't for you.

    4. Your budget might not be sufficient or you may want a more luxurious model. These mattresses tend to retail around the £500.00 so unless this is what you want to pay then this mattress might not be right for your needs.

In conclusion, here at Beds On Legs we still favour choice. After nearly 30 years in the industry we know all to well that picking the right mattress is not something that should be rushed. We are also aware that every body is different as are their needs. We believe that with the right advice you can find the perfect bed for you. Whilst too much choice can cause you a headache, the option of just one mattress seems limiting to us. For further reading then you can head over to the National Bed Federation.
